People R Ugly

People R Ugly.
Don’t be offended—you’re about to discover your new favorite pop punk band, comically named People R Ugly. Was it to grab attention, or do they just really believe it? I'm not sure, but either way, it shows the personality of this four-member band. Made up of Zak Dossi, Bill Biers, Julian Del Grosso, and Tristan Kevitch, the LA-based group has been making waves over the last few years, notably becoming the face of fun pop punk.

It’s been a while since a band has stepped out with their own persona—not showcasing perfection or polished put-togetherness, but just being themselves with their own unique style. They’ve really embodied their music and the journey of coming up as a band: playing unpaid gigs, underground venues, and most of all, just having fun.

They instantly give early 2000s pop punk vibes, almost like a Blink-182 energy with a splash of All Time Low fun. I mean, even the name hints at their humor and not taking themselves too seriously. But honestly, that’s a classic pop punk move—using their fun personalities to draw in a crowd.

The best way to really get them is to watch their music video for “What Up?” It’s a cover of Linda Perry & 4 Non Blondes, but they’ve brought it back with their own twist, creating a hit of their own. And the best part? The music video. Instead of hiring a big production team and coming up with some over-the-top concept, they stuck to their style: a house party. Nothing crazy, just a party filmed on a digital camera and edited by the band members themselves. Even as they change up the concept for each music video, they stay true to their fun, unique selves—keeping that raw, Y2K vibe alive.

They’re well on their way to becoming a global sensation, already landing spots at Lollapalooza in Grant Park, The Bonnaroo Music Festival, and the Van Wrapped Tour. This is their year. With raw energy, an unforgettable style, and a whole lot of heart, People R Ugly is about to blow up—and you’ll want to say you knew them before they took over the world.
